2018 A Year In Reflection
Yes, it’s March and I’m now posting a 2018 year in reflection…but hey, here we go. Posts about said events below are coming soon.
I’m not going to exaggerate, I spent almost everyday the last week of December crying and reflecting on every month from the past year. Jacob had to endure so many tears in the kitchen. This has truly been the most amazing year of my life, so many prayers were answered, so many dreams came true, and the most precious little bundle of joy joined our family on the most perfect day! My cup truly runneth over, and I have never been so grateful, thankful, or happy!
In the coming year I plan to take each day and breathe it in and soak it up. I want to live every moment just like we did in 2018 and I want to slow down and write it all down because nothing is permeant and my baby girl is already growing up too fast before our eyes. Here is to 2019 being a year of “Slow.”
Here is a recap of the year:
January: We welcomed in the New Year at the Van Zandt in downtown Austin. We also welcomed our nephew January 11th.
February: Jacob completed his Texas Monthly BBQ challenge and on February 13th we learned we were pregnant, making Valentine’s Day extra special.
March: We celebrated a healthy pregnancy and heard Arabella’s heartbeat for the first time!
April: We celebrated Easter and told our families we were expecting!
May: We celebrated a dear college roommate’s medical school graduation with a road trip to Colombia, Missouri. We also celebrated my first Mother’s Day and then my 27th birthday with a trip to the spa!
June: We had family vacation in Telluride, Colorado. On vacation I secured an interview for a teaching position.
July: I was offered and accepted my teaching position!
August: School started! This was such a crazy and stressful time, Jacob was a champ how he served and loved me.
September: School was in full force, so thankful for how Jacob loved and served me during this time. We also celebrated Arabella’s coming arrival with baby showers and nursery decorations underway!
October: Celebrated making it to October! On October 1st I literally told Jacob, “Arabella could come any day now and that would be okay!” We put our final touches on the nursery. Celebrated Jacob’s 28th Birthday with a slow fun filled weekend, we saw the movie The Old Man with a Gun, watched the Baylor Bears play the Longhorns in box seats, went to church, found the best pumpkin patch, and then celebrated the day of at Cracker Barrel. October 26th, our due date, we went to the doctor, voted, had dinner and then contractions started! October 27th we were admitted to the hospital twice and in the early hours of October 28th, Arabella Rose Louise was born, forever capturing our hearts.
November: Arabella met many family members, had her first road trip to Kerrville and met GG, celebrated Thanksgiving as a family of three, learned Arabella can not handle dairy
December: GG went to be with Jesus, Arabella’s 2 month check up & shots, our little family portrayed Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in our church nativity, Our first Christmas as a family of three
